Synopsis: “Rosemary” transports you to a world where art meets love. Stefanos, through his poetry, touches the heart of the young painter Pavlos. Together, they develop a unique language of communication, living a romantic and innocent relationship. When Pavlos’s family discovers their bond, they resort to excruciating methods to “purify” him of the “demon” they believe lurks within. The film contrasts true romanticism with the devastation of emotional castration, leading Pavlos to madness.

Director’s Note: Rosemary is based on the multidimensional mind of Pavlos, an innocent soul who effortlessly slips into every realm, for he has no defenses. The brainwashing by his family shatters his dreams—a fate that occurs all too often. His worlds are like planets: the planet of love, the planet of symbols, the planet of sacred dreams, and the “gkofy” planet. Just as the mind of Rosemary remains unfiltered, so is the direction—spontaneous and arbitrary, like that of a child who can adore you one moment and view you as a demon the next.
This film is about Pavlos and the battle within his mind, the struggle between the journey toward freedom and the constraints imposed by stereotypes that force people to live in dark rooms. Yet, ships will always be immortal; they will always endure.
In this film, I wanted to express what I believe in most in life—those unique dreams that spring from a child’s soul, dreams that envision eternity… an always… a universe. I loved every Pavlos we all hide within us. I sympathized with him, I wept for him, and my need to speak about his dreams and his battle was greater than ever.
For Pavlos… For a Rosemary…
